Its true, Liberals Don’t Lie. What they say is factually true. Not valid! Not honest! Intentionally misleading. But true
The PBO report on the Canadian Carbon Tax found that 80 per cent of Canadian families will receive more money back through rebates than they are taxed.1 This is of course consistent with what the Liberal and NDP parties say. So the Liberal position is true. Of course the PBO also said that Canadian families (after the effects of the economy are considered), receive considerably less in the government’s rebate than they spend. But let’s go back to the original statement. Given only the direct money Canadians spend on the items covered by the carbon tax, 80% of Canadians get more money back in rebates than they spend
But, and it is a BIG But. Over 80% of Canadians live in Urban centres2
Therefore, the 80% of Canadians who get a rebate don’t have to drive their car, they have access to mass transit. They don’t heat with oil, they don’t own a tractor, or raise cattle. They don’t grow their food, they don’t live 20 or more kilometres from their work. So Trudeau, and Jagmeet Singh’s statements are true, if also total BS. And guess where the Liberal and NDP get most of their votes? Here is a hint, (Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver)
