The Times: US Urges UK To Reduce Its Dependence On American Weapons
We’ve been trying to tell people to readjust. The old confidence is gone,” The Times writes, citing American officials. It is reported that the US administration might impose restrictions on the supply of equipment from the US because (so that) “missiles and planes won’t fly if you don’t do what you’re told.” Ie: Modified or with created back door software so that equipment could fail to operate as expected, or causing that equipment to fail if it were used against US wishes.
Another consideration is that the US controls spare parts for these aircraft and performs maintenance on them. NO spare parts or no maintenance and they don’t fly. I’ve been warning of this shortcoming since the F35 entered the competition for Canada’s next fighter jet. I’ve contacted everyone that I could

Canada could of course, purchase the Saab Gripen fighter, the Saab Swordfish (which is built on a Bombardier airframe, and the Saab Global Eye (also a Bombardier ) and all three would be built in Canada, with Canadian software control, Canadian controlled spare parts control and Canadian maintenance control.
